At least four Lebanese citizens have been martyred in two separate Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, only two days after the Beirut government and the Tel Aviv regime extended their ceasefire for three weeks after a high-level meeting at the White House.
According to Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health, two Israeli enemy strikes, on a truck and a motorbike, in the town of Yohmor al-Shaqeef in the Nabatieh district caused the fatalities.
The latest deaths raised the toll from violations since Israel and Lebanon implemented a ten-day cessation of hostilities on April 17 to at least 19.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli military warned residents of some southern Lebanese villages not to return, citing ongoing offensives despite extension of the truce.
"It is not permitted to approach the area of the Litani River, the Salhani Valley, and the Saluki," spokesman Avichay Adraee said on the social media platform X, listing more than 50 villages.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army said it struck three different areas in southern Lebanon overnight, asserting to have targeted rocket launchers of Hezbollah resistance fighters.
Lebanon's official National News Agency (NNA) said the town of Houla in the Marjayoun area also came under Israeli artillery fire.
On Friday, Israeli strikes killed six people and wounded two in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese heath officials.
Israeli forces also shelled the towns of Houla and Byout al-Seyyad, and used explosives as well as excavations in multiple areas within the so-called "Yellow Line" buffer zone south of the Litani River to demolish a number of buildings.
US President Donald Trump hosted Israel's ambassador to Washington Yechiel Leiter and Lebanese ambassador to the US Nada Moawad in the Oval Office on Thursday for a second round of US-facilitated talks.
Trump said he looked forward to hosting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in the near future.
The US president said he hoped the leaders would meet during the three-week cessation of hostilities. He said there was "a great chance" the two sides would reach a peace agreement this year.
Nearly 2,500 people have been killed in Lebanon since the Israeli regime resumed its attacks on Lebanon amid the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran, according to Lebanese authorities.
Israel is occupying a belt of the south that extends 5 to 10 kilometers into Lebanon. The Israeli regime's military reiterated a warning to residents of south Lebanon not to cross into the area.
